Our Work in Oregon
Since the early ’90s, Legal Voice has advanced pivotal campaigns for gender justice throughout Oregon. Our work has expanded parental leave, opened the doors of exclusionary institutions, defended 2SLGBTQ+ Oregonians, and ensured access to reproductive healthcare.
Current Work
Ensuring the Legal System Honors the Experiences of Survivors
In 2023, the Oregon State Bar filed a complaint against an Oregon lawyer who engaged in a horrifying pattern of coercive control, intimidation, and physical abuse over a period of 20 years. However, when a disciplinary panel finally ruled on the case in 2025, it largely dismissed many of the allegations and minimized the severity of others. Instead, it relied on misconceptions and myths about survivors’ behavior.
In response, we worked closely with the Oregon Crime Victim Law Center to submit an amicus curiae (friend-of-the-court) brief that educates the disciplinary panel and seeks to hold it accountable.
Dignity in Pregnancy Loss
Alongside our partners at If/When/How and Pro-Choice Washington, we are advocating for legislation that would protect Oregonians from being investigated, arrested, or prosecuted for having a miscarriage, experiencing a stillbirth, or ending their own pregnancy.
In 2025, we worked with the same coalition to pass a Dignity in Pregnancy Loss bill in Washington state.
Let's Talk!
We’re excited to build connections across the state, whether it’s through policy change, legal action, or public education.
