Little v. Hecox

Our challenge to Idaho’s anti-trans sports law, which harms cisgender women, trans women, and nonbinary people who play on women’s sports teams.

Matsumoto v. Labrador

Our challenge to Idaho’s abortion travel ban, which seeks to prevent youth from getting legal abortion health care in other states.

Perkins v. State of Montana

Our challenge to HB 121, one of the broadest anti-trans “bathroom bans” in the country.

Seyb v. Idaho Board of Medicine

Our challenge to Idaho’s two abortion bans, which endanger the lives of pregnant people who face medical emergencies.

Planned Parenthood Great Northwest, Hawai’i, Alaska, Indiana, Kentucky v. State of Alaska

Our challenge to an Alaskan law that blocks qualified health care professionals from providing abortions.

Amicus Curiae Briefs

Amicus curiae (friend-of-the-court) briefs are written by parties who are not involved in a case but have expertise to offer to the court. The list below shows our amicus briefs related to open or recent cases. If you’re looking for information about a brief related to a closed case, contact us at info@legalvoice.org.

Branson v. Washington Fine Wine & Spirits

Our brief seeks to protect Washington’s pay transparency law. The law is critical to closing the wage gap for women and people of color.

Carter v. Jones

We wrote in support of a survivor of sexual violence who was subjected to a retaliatory defamation lawsuit. A Washington appeals court rightfully dismissed the lawsuit, setting a powerful precedent that will protect future survivors who speak out about their experiences.

Cedar Park Assembly of God v. Kreidler

We wrote in support of a Washington state law that requires health insurance plans to cover abortion care if they cover maternity care.

FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine

We wrote in support of the FDA’s decision to expand access to mifepristone, one of two drugs most often used for medication abortions. Related to Washington v. FDA.

Idaho Department of Health and Welfare v. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

We wrote in opposition to Idaho’s plan to deny post-pregnancy Medicaid coverage to people who have had abortions.

Moyle v. United States

We wrote in opposition to Idaho’s near-total abortion ban, which blocks emergency rooms from performing abortions to protect the health of pregnant people.

Planned Parenthood v. State of Montana

We wrote in opposition to three anti-abortion laws in Montana that harm survivors of intimate partner violence. The Montana Supreme Court cited our brief in its decision to permanently block all three laws.

State of Louisiana v. FDA

We wrote in support of FDA guidance that allows mifepristone to be dispensed via telemedicine. Access to abortion via telemedicine is especially important for survivors of intimate partner violence, who often cannot access in-person care because of their controlling, abusive partners.
