[Idaho, Washington] – This week, Campaign for Accountability brought a complaint in Idaho, Minnesota, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Washington against crisis pregnancy centers (CPCs) for deceptive practices and data collection.

In response, Legal Voice said the following:

“We applaud Campaign for Accountability for taking the important step to hold crisis pregnancy centers accountable. For too long, CPCs have been able to operate outside rules and laws of medical facilities and doctors’ offices, presenting themselves as healthcare providers and invoking the language of HIPAA while really pursuing their own agenda and collecting patients’ personal, sensitive data. These deceptive practices must be stopped.”

Considering the significant risks that anti-abortion “crisis pregnancy centers” pose to the privacy of pregnant people in Idaho and Washington, Legal Voice calls for investigations of these deceptive practices and public education about CPCs. Legal Voice strongly urges Idaho Attorney General Raúl Labrador to investigate CPCs for violations of Idaho’s consumer protection laws and supports the continued investigation of CPCs by Washington Attorney General Robert Ferguson.
