Focus Areas
Thirty years ago, our founders envisioned a world in which women's legal rights were assured. Since our first case in 1978, Blair v. WSU, in which we won equal access to sports facilities and programs for the women of Washington State—and set a national precedent—we have made progress in every area of the law that affects women and their families by:
- Fighting to strengthen the law for victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
- Pursuing marriage equality and family recognition rights for lesbians and gays
- Battling discrimination in the workplace
- Advancing access to healthcare and choice
- Working to protect women and their families
Yet with all the victories we have celebrated, so much work remains to be done.
Our Unique Approach
In our work to ensure justice for women, Legal Voice concentrates its efforts on three program areas: litigation, legislation, and legal education of individuals and communities.
Every day we focus on activities that directly contribute to lasting, systemic changes in society, from lawsuits and statutes, to agency rules, self-help materials, and public education.

Whatever it takes to get there, Legal Voice will not rest until we can say with confidence that women have true equality and justice.
Women's rights. Nothing less.
